Healthy Living Advice from your Apartments in Medical Center

Remember way back in January when you were gung-ho about your New Year's resolutions? If you’re like a lot of residents of our apartments in Medical Center, you probably resolved to live as the healthiest version of yourself in 2018. Whether you've been sticking to your goals or not, we thought now would be a good time to remind our residents how to live, work and eat healthy throughout the rest of the year.

Now is as good a time as ever to start getting serious about your health, as summer is in full swing and the het is bearing down hard on Houston. The more physically fit you are, the better equipped you’ll be to handle the rising temperatures! The alternative is staying inside your air conditioned apartment all summer, but that doesn’t sound as fun as exploring all the outdoor activities Houston has to offer. Check out the list of health tips below, and be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your apartments near Medical Center!

Buy a water bottle and spare no expense

If someone told you to buy any water bottle you wanted and they would pay for it, which one would you buy? Take that train of thought and use it to buy the water bottle of your choice. You’ll be much more likely to drink enough water if you have a water bottle you love and want near you at all times. So go ahead and let yourself splurge a bit on a nice water bottle. Your body will thank you, and your health is worth investing in!

Switch up your workout routine

Everybody works out at different times of day, but sometime workout times are better than others. For instance, working out within a few hours of your bedtime isn’t a good idea. Your body needs to cool down before you’ll be able to fall asleep, and working out raises your internal temperature.

If you want to get the most out of your workout, do it in the morning. Working out kicks your metabolism into high gear, which means you’ll burn more calories throughout the rest of the day. Plus, working out before you go into the office forces you to wake up earlier, which means you might actually be tired when it’s time to fall asleep at the end of the day.

Change grocery stores

Shopping at a discount grocery store for a long time is a good way to fall into some bad habits. You might walk down the same chip aisle every week and find yourself unable to resist the temptation buy those super cheesy chips that are filled with empty calories. Next time you find yourself staring at an empty refrigerator, consider going to the a natural foods store instead of your usual spot. Yes, it’ll cost more, but it’s hard to put a price on eating right.
